Antonia Hodgson is a British crime fiction author known for her meticulously researched and atmospheric novels, often set during the Georgian era, a period she finds particularly compelling compared to the Victorian period. Her writing style is characterized by detailed historical settings, complex plots, and compelling, often flawed, protagonists, particularly the investigator Thomas Hawkins. Hodgson’s career began within the publishing industry, having earned an English Literature degree from Leeds University and working for Harcourt, Brace, before becoming editor-in-chief at Little, Brown. She initially submitted her work anonymously to Hodder & Stoughton.
