Candace Bushnell was born on December 1, 1958, and is an American author, journalist, and television producer. She initially gained prominence for her columns published in The New York Observer from 1994 to 1996, which depicted the lives and observations of women in New York City. These columns were adapted into the bestselling 'Sex and the City' anthology, launching her career and becoming the basis for the hugely successful HBO television series 'Sex and the City' (1998-2004) and two subsequent films.
