David Sedaris is an American humorist, comedian, author, and radio contributor known for his observational and often darkly humorous essays. He gained early recognition in 1992 with his NPR essay "Santaland Diaries," which detailed his experiences as a Santa Claus at Macy's. Sedaris’s writing style is characterized by his personal, often uncomfortable, and frequently absurd accounts of his life and observations, frequently incorporating details about his family and travels. He has published numerous collections of essays and short stories, as well as children's books, and is a regular contributor to The New Yorker and BBC Radio 4.
