Gillian Linscott, born in Windsor, England in 1944, is a British author specializing in crime writing after a career as a journalist for publications including the Liverpool Daily Post, Birmingham Post, The Guardian, and BBC. She studied at Somerville College, Oxford, graduating in 1966. Linscott's writing is characterized by intricate plots and strong female characters, frequently set within historical contexts, as evidenced by her award-winning Absent Friends which earned her the Ellis Peters Historical Dagger. She is most recognized for her prolific output within the Nell Bray and Birdie Linnet series.
