Ian C. Esslemont (born 1962) is a Canadian fantasy author best known for his extensive work within the Malazan universe, primarily through his series of novels. Initially trained as an archaeologist and with considerable travel experience, including living and working in Southeast Asia, Esslemont’s writing style is characterized by complex world-building, epic scope, and intricate character development, drawing heavily from the traditions of high fantasy and epic literature.
