Margaret Frazer (born Gail Lynn Brown, November 26, 1946 – February 4, 2013), was an American historical novelist primarily known for her extensive series of historical mysteries, particularly those set in medieval England. Frazer initially wrote in collaboration with Mary Monica Pulver Kuhfeld, creating the successful 'Sister Frevisse' series, which featured the investigations of a Benedictine nun. Her writing style focused on detailed historical settings and engaging narratives centered around crime and intrigue within the context of the medieval period. Frazer authored over twenty novels and numerous short stories, frequently exploring themes of faith, justice, and social dynamics in her meticulously researched stories.
Beyond the 'Sister Frevisse' series, Frazer also created the 'Joliffe the Player' series, a collection of mysteries revolving around a medieval actor, and wrote several standalone novels and short stories. Her works gained a dedicated following due to her immersive historical detail and compelling character development.
