Raymond Benson (born September 5, 1955) is an American author known primarily for his work as the official James Bond novelist from 1997 to 2003. He transitioned from writing short stories for Playboy and TV Guide to crafting full-length spy thrillers, establishing a distinct style characterized by detailed plots and suspenseful narratives. Benson’s extensive body of work includes six James Bond novels, as well as numerous standalone novels spanning genres such as mystery and thriller, along with adaptations of popular video games like Metal Gear Solid and Tom Clancy's series.
