Robert Jordan, writing as James Oliver Rigney Jr., was an American fantasy author best known for his epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time. Born in 1948, Jordan’s prolific career spanned decades, producing over 30 novels and numerous short stories and related works. His writing style was characterized by intricate world-building, complex characters, and detailed explorations of magic and morality. Prior to his success in fantasy, Jordan served in the Vietnam War as a helicopter gunner and worked as a nuclear engineer for the United States Navy. He gained significant recognition for his collaborative works, notably The Wheel of Time series, which he co-authored with Brandon Sanderson.
