Sara Zarr (born October 3, 1970) is an American novelist and podcast host. Raised in San Francisco, she currently resides in Salt Lake City, Utah. Zarr’s writing is characterized by dual narration and focuses on the lives and experiences of young women, often exploring themes of identity, friendship, and resilience. Her early success with Story of a Girl—a National Book Award finalist—established her as a promising voice in contemporary fiction.

Zarr has since published nine novels and two books of nonfiction, alongside hosting the popular podcast This Creative Life.
