Adeyemi’s background is rooted in her first-generation Nigerian heritage and her experience working in film production in Los Angeles, a period that initially faced resistance from her parents. Her writing style is characterized by vibrant world-building, complex characters, and exploration of themes related to identity, oppression, and cultural heritage, drawing heavily on Yoruba mythology as represented by the "Legacy of Orisha" series. She holds an English Literature honors degree from Harvard University.
