Vanda Symon (born 1969) is a New Zealand crime writer and radio host. Born in Dunedin, she spent her childhood in Tauranga and Hawkes Bay, influencing her background and providing settings for many of her novels. Symon's writing style is characterized by intricate plots, strong female characters, and a focus on local settings, particularly in the Otago region of New Zealand. She often explores themes of suspense, mystery, and the dark side of seemingly idyllic communities. Symon is also the Chair of the Otago Southland Branch of the New Zealand Society of Authors.
