A. Bertram Chandler (1912-1984) was an Anglo-Australian writer who initially worked as a merchant marine officer before establishing a prolific career in science fiction. His writing was heavily influenced by his seafaring experiences, often incorporating elements of space adventure and pulp fiction. Chandler relocated to Australia in 1956, and continued to write extensively, becoming a highly regarded, though often overlooked, figure in the genre. He penned numerous novels and short stories, exploring themes of exploration, adventure, and often featuring daring characters navigating vast spaces and uncharted worlds.
