Daniel Keyes (August 9, 1927 – June 15, 2014) was an American writer primarily recognized for his groundbreaking novel Flowers for Algernon. Keyes’s writing style often employed a distinctive epistolary format, utilizing excerpts from Charlie Gordon’s journal to chronicle his intellectual development and emotional experiences. He was given the Author Emeritus honor by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 2000, acknowledging his significant contribution to the field.
