Derek Haas, born in the United States in 1970, is an American author and screenwriter who has achieved success in both novel writing and Hollywood. Haas earned his B.A. and M.A. in English Literature from Baylor University. His writing style blends elements of thriller and crime fiction, often featuring complex characters and morally ambiguous situations. Haas is best known for his "Columbus" series, starting with "The Silver Bear", and for his involvement in the creation of the television series "Chicago Fire".
