Initially educated at Uppingham School and Cambridge University (Downing College), where he was involved with Footlights and served as president, Thorogood transitioned into a prolific career in television and publishing. His writing style is known for its engaging plots, sharp dialogue, and often humorous approach to crime and mystery, particularly evident in his work on Death in Paradise.
Thorogood gained significant recognition with his creation of the long-running BBC One murder mystery series Death in Paradise, subsequently developing spin-offs Beyond Paradise and Return to Paradise.
