Eleanor Catton, born in 1985, is a New Zealand novelist and screenwriter with roots in Canada. Raised in Christchurch, New Zealand, after her family's relocation from Canada at age six, she pursued a Master's degree in creative writing at the International Institute of Modern Letters. Catton's writing is characterized by its intricate plotting, detailed character development, and exploration of complex themes, often blending genres and employing a sophisticated, almost scholarly, style. Her acclaimed debut, The Rehearsal, launched her career and evolved from her Master’s thesis, establishing a foundation for her subsequent successes.
