Per Fredrik Wahlöö (1926-1975), also known as Peter Wahloo, was a prominent Swedish author primarily recognized for his collaborative crime fiction with Maj Sjöwall. Born in Kungsbacka Municipality, Halland, Wahlöö's writing style was characterized by a stark realism and a critical examination of Swedish society, often reflecting Marxist themes. His most famous work was the Martin Beck series, a decade-long collection of novels depicting the exploits of Stockholm police detective Martin Beck and his partner Gunvald Berling.
