Walter Farley (1915-1989) was an American author primarily known for his extensive series of horse stories, particularly "The Black Stallion." Farley began writing during his time at Columbia University, eventually publishing his first novel, "The Black Stallion," at age 26 through Random House. His writing style is characterized by vivid descriptions of horses and their relationships, often incorporating elements of adventure and friendship. Farley continued to write and publish sequels to "The Black Stallion" for decades, with his son Steven continuing the series after his death.
