Ocean Vuong, born Vương Quốc Vinh in 1988, is a Vietnamese American writer known for his lyrical and intensely personal prose. Born in Vietnam and raised in Arkansas, Vuong’s work grapples with themes of trauma, identity, and the immigrant experience, often employing fragmented narratives and vivid imagery to convey profound emotional weight. His style is characterized by a blending of poetic language, sharp observations, and explorations of complex relationships, frequently set against the backdrop of the opioid crisis and the legacies of war. Vuong's debut novel, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, garnered widespread acclaim and established him as a significant voice in contemporary literature.
