Jenny Zhang (born 1983) is an American writer and poet currently based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work is deeply rooted in the experiences of Chinese American immigrants, exploring themes of trauma, family, and identity with a raw and unflinching honesty. Zhang’s writing style is characterized by a fragmented, stream-of-consciousness approach, often utilizing visceral imagery and a distinctive, almost chaotic narrative voice.
She has published multiple collections of poetry, including Dear Jenny, We Are All Find, Hags, and Sour Heart, as well as non-fiction works such as March Sisters: On Life, Death, and Little Women (a collaboration). Zhang’s work has been recognized through inclusion in anthologies and literary journals, solidifying her position as a vital voice in contemporary literature.
