Katherena Vermette, born on January 29, 1977, is a Canadian writer of Métis descent originating from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her work frequently explores themes of identity, Indigenous history, and community, often drawing upon her personal background and Métis heritage. Vermette’s writing style is characterized by lyrical prose and a commitment to representing diverse voices, particularly those of Indigenous peoples. She is best known for her poetry collection, North End Love Songs, which garnered the Governor General's Award for English-language poetry in 2013.
